We've also been learning a lot about Black History Month! Ask your child about Rosa Parkes and Viola Desmond. They were important "activists", standing up for their rights and showing that the colour of our skin does not matter. We are all important and special in many, many ways.

Fun with Math!
Thank you Mrs. Hammond for sharing some pretty cool math games with us to help make math fun! We've been practising our fractions by "dropping it"! We're learning that the number on TOP (numerator) is the number of pieces we're talking about. The number on the BOTTOM (denominator) is the number of pieces ALTOGETHER. Sometimes we think the number on the bottom is the number of pieces left over after we've counted for the top number. We have to be very careful! But we're getting it!

Happy Valentine's Day!
We've had a very fun-filled Valentine's Day today! Your kids did a great job decorating their tissue boxes for cards and we also enjoyed some delicious hot chocolate with our buddies. The Leadership Team Dance was super fun complete with decorations and balloons! Our treat team outdid themselves and your kids were very kind and generous with their cards. I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's and Family Day weekend! Spend time with the people you love.....
Claire has worked SUPER hard on her beautiful Flat Stella project! Claire and Flat Stella enjoyed her birthday party together AND Flat Stella came along with Claire on our Dr. Seuss trip! And just recently, Claire and Flat Stella returned from a magical adventure on a Disney Cruise Ship!!! WOW!!! Flat Stella even enjoyed fun at the beach being buried in the sand! Well done, Claire!

Mrs. O's class is filled with creative GENIUSES!!!
I'm so proud of your kids for their beautiful artwork! In the past few weeks, we've used pastel and water colours to create birch trees and fish! We're reading the story "Gilbert in Deep" and we're working on making predictions. WHO is the big, scary shadow coming for Gilbert near the end of the story??? We used pastel and water colours again to make our own creatures of the deep. We also shared in some fun Groundhog Day activities, creating our own groundhogs and stating whether we like Spring or Winter better...….
Please enjoy our artwork!
Please check out our February newsletter for next week's fun Valentine's Day activities! We're adding a Valentine's Dance to the mix courtesy of our wonderful Leadership Team!
